Acer has officially launched its Aspire One 522 netbook. The Aspire One 522 has a 1GHz AMD C-50 Ontario dual core APU which is a member of the AMD Fusion platform. Other specifications include integrated Radeon 6250 graphics with full DirectX 11 support and UVD3 for better hardware accelerated video. Acer claims that the laptop will get around 6 hours of battery life and that may be true because the Ontario processors are highly power efficient. The total power draw is a scant 9W.
The Aspire One 522 has a 10.1 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It also has WiFi 802.11b/g/n, HDMI, VGA out, 3 USB ports, webcam and a multi-format card reader. The rest of the specifications may be identical to those of the Aspire One 255.
A Taiwanese online retailers has listed the netbook with 2GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive for 12,829 baht (about $425). No word on pricing or availability outside of Taiwan.
