ACER ASPIRE 721 UP FOR PRE-ORDER
One of the first netbooks to sport AMD's new Nile processor, the Acer Aspire 721 is now up for pre-order from Amazon for $430 plus free shipping.
The Aspire 721 has an 11.6 inch HD display with 1366 x 768 pixels. It is powered by a 1.7GHz AMD Athlon II Neo K125 single core processor. The notebook also has the ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics with 384MB of dedicated video memory. Other specifications include 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and a 6 cell, 4400mah battery.
The Acer Aspire 721 runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. It weighs 3.1 pounds. It is not known whether this machine will be able to deliver better performance and battery life than notebooks powered by Intel CULV processors. But at just $430, the Aspire 721 is only slightly costlier than a typical Atom-powered netbook. Better still, it offers an HD display, better graphics and full fledged operating system.
